Postdoc position open

The LAPSE (International joint laboratory of adaptation of plants and associated-microorganisms to environmental stresses) seeks applications for a 18-months post-doctoral position from March 2015 to September 2016.

The post-doc will be part of the Newpearl project funded by the Fondation Agropolis (France) and the Fondazione Cariplo (Italy). It involves an international consortium of researchers from the IRD, CIRAD, CNRS and University of Montpellier (France), the CNR and the University of Pavia (Italy), ICRISAT (Niger and India) and the ISRA (Senegal). This project aim is to use high-throughput phenotyping and sequencing approaches to understand the adaptation of pearl millet and develop selection markers for the improvement of the culture of this cereal in arid areas. The recruited post-doctoral fellow will be responsible (e) to carry out genome wide association studies to identify regions of the genome responsible for millet traits of interest.

Duties and responsabilities :

Working with the directors of Project, the post-doc will:

  • Use phenotyping and genotyping data provided by the consortium to conduct analyzes of genetic association
  • Conduct field and lab works in Senegal (ISRA)
  • Analyze data
  • Write reports and articles(s) on the study’s research findings.
Necessary qualifications:

The candidate must hold a PhD in Genetics, Biology, Agronomy or equivalent or equivalent after 2012 or will complete his/her thesis by December 2014. Should be fluent in French and/or English. Good expertise in genetic is required.
